About Center Stage Dramatics

Center Stage Dramatics is more than a theatre class—it’s a space where creativity, collaboration, and confidence take center stage. Designed for students ages 7 to 13, our 8-week course invites young performers to explore the art of theatre through storytelling, imaginative play, and hands-on activities.

Led by experienced instructors who value both discipline and delight, the curriculum blends foundational skills with dynamic learning experiences.

Our Approach

We believe theatre education should be:

  • Playful and imaginative — sparking curiosity and creativity
  • Structured and supportive — giving students tools to grow with confidence
  • Holistic — blending acting, movement, music, and storytelling
  • Empowering — helping young performers take risks, collaborate, and shine

Each week builds upon the last, encouraging students to take creative risks, support their peers, and discover the joy of bringing stories to life on stage. Whether your child dreams of Broadway or simply wants to try something new, Center Stage Dramatics offers a welcoming and structured introduction to the performing arts.

Meet the Instructors

Janet Reed

Award-Winning Director/Instructor | Founder of Center Stage Dramatics

With over 40 years of theatrical experience, Janet Reed is a seasoned director, instructor, and performer whose deep-rooted passion for theatre has made a lasting impact on the arts community in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area. As the founder and director of Center Stage Dramatics, Janet has cultivated a unique, multifaceted program that empowers children through the transformative power of performance art.

Throughout her distinguished career, Janet has worked in a variety of capacities within both community and professional theatre, excelling in areas such as directing, choreography, costume and set design, and, of course, acting. Her dedication to youth theatre led her to create and develop a comprehensive youth drama program at Southside Theatre Guild (STG), where she imparted her knowledge of all aspects of theatre in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Janet’s teaching journey began under the mentorship of her close friend, Amy Beaucham, the director of Dramatic Fanatics. After teaching with Dramatic Fanatics for four years, Amy relocated to Indiana and encouraged Janet to pursue her own path, leading to the establishment of Center Stage Dramatics in 2024. As Janet shares, “Watching a child develop and learn the important skills that will empower and enhance their lives is my passion. I’ve witnessed so many children find their voice through performance art, and I believe it makes a significant difference in their overall development and growth.”

Her contributions to the field have not gone unnoticed, with accolades including the 2019 STG President’s Award for outstanding membership, and two Metropolitan Atlanta Theatre Awards for Best Actress (2006, All My Sons) and Best Set Design (2018, Beauty and the Beast). Janet’s efforts extend beyond the stage, having successfully raised over $250,000 in grant funding for STG, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, through her work in grant writing since 2018.

Beyond the theatre, Janet is deeply committed to her community. She served as Chairperson for the American Cancer Society’s “Bark For Life” event from 2009-2015, and from 2018-2020, she contributed her expertise as a member of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Creative Place Making Committee during the downtown Fairburn renovation. Additionally, she serves on the Arts Advisory Board for the city, ensuring that the arts continue to flourish in her community.

With a career that spans four decades, Janet’s contributions to theatre and youth development continue to inspire and empower the next generation of performers, creators, and leaders.
